Red Tiger Barb (Puntigrus tetrazona)
Quarantined barb for planted and community aquariums in Canada.
The Red Tiger Barb is a colourful aquarium strain of the classic Tiger Barb, selected for a stronger red-toned display while keeping the active, high-energy behaviour that makes Tiger Barbs so recognizable.
Why This Fish Stands Out
- Bold red-toned Tiger Barb strain
- Very active schooling fish with strong movement
- Best for energetic barb or fast-moving community setups
Aquarium Setup & Behaviour
Provide a spacious aquarium with open swimming room, plants or hardscape for structure, and robust filtration. Avoid slow, long-finned tankmates such as fancy guppies or longfin bettas.
Tiger Barbs should be kept in a proper group. In too-small groups, fin-nipping and chasing are more likely to be directed at tankmates.
Feeding
Feed quality flakes or pellets with varied frozen/live foods and some plant-based content.
Natural Colour & Livestock Integrity
Colour comes from genetics, maturity, health, and proper conditioning. Topick Aquarium does not use hormones to artificially enhance fish colour.
Topick Aquarium Livestock Standard
All fish at Topick Aquarium are carefully quarantined and conditioned to our stable local tap water before sale. Although barbs and rasboras may come from different natural habitats, stable water, gradual acclimation, healthy feeding, and a mature aquarium matter more than chasing exact wild parameters.
