Explore our collection of Lake Tanganyika cichlids, including shell dwellers, rock-dwelling specialists, Calvus, Petrochromis, and other unique African cichlids from one of the world's most biologically distinctive freshwater lakes.
While many Lake Malawi cichlids are selected primarily for bold colour, Lake Tanganyika cichlids are often prized just as much for their behaviour. Small shell dwellers such as Multies and Gold Ocellatus establish territories around shells, while species such as Gold Head Calvus and Petrochromis offer very different rock-oriented hunting or grazing behaviours.
All Lake Tanganyika cichlids at Topick Aquarium are carefully quarantined and conditioned to our stable local tap water before sale. These fish still require species-appropriate aquarium design, including suitable shells, rockwork, territory space, filtration, and diet depending on the species selected.
