Breeding & Stocking Notes

Livebearers give birth to free-swimming fry instead of laying eggs. If males and females are kept together, breeding is very likely. For display-only aquariums, many hobbyists choose male-only groups; for breeding projects, a planned male-to-female ratio, dense plants, and fry grow-out space are recommended.

Although livebearers are often adaptable, a cycled aquarium, stable filtration, gradual acclimation, and consistent maintenance are still important for long-term success.

For fancy colour strains, the colour you see comes from genetics, maturity, health, and proper conditioning. Topick Aquarium does not use hormones to artificially enhance fish colour.
