Longfin Cherry Barb (Puntius titteya)

Quarantined barb for planted and community aquariums in Canada.

The Longfin Cherry Barb is a peaceful, selectively bred form of the classic Cherry Barb, offering red colour and extended fins in a calmer barb species. It is an excellent choice for planted community aquariums where a gentler barb is preferred.

Why This Fish Stands Out

  • Peaceful barb with red colour and longfin display
  • Good planted-tank community fish
  • Less aggressive than Tiger Barb-type species

Aquarium Setup & Behaviour

Keep in a mature planted aquarium with peaceful tankmates, open swimming space, and areas of cover. Avoid fin-nipping tankmates that may damage long fins.

Cherry Barbs are social and look best in groups. Males show stronger red colour when settled and healthy.

Feeding

Feed quality flakes or micro-pellets with varied frozen/live foods.

Natural Colour & Livestock Integrity

Colour comes from genetics, maturity, health, and proper conditioning. Topick Aquarium does not use hormones to artificially enhance fish colour.

Topick Aquarium Livestock Standard

All fish at Topick Aquarium are carefully quarantined and conditioned to our stable local tap water before sale. Although barbs and rasboras may come from different natural habitats, stable water, gradual acclimation, healthy feeding, and a mature aquarium matter more than chasing exact wild parameters.

Care Summary
