The Protomelas taeniolatus 'Boadzulu', also known as the Boadzulu Red Empress, is a stunning variant of the Red Empress cichlid found near Boadzulu Island in Lake Malawi. Males exhibit a brilliant mix of metallic blue over the head and upper body, blending into fiery red and orange hues across the sides and fins. This species is prized for its vibrant coloration, graceful swimming, and relatively peaceful nature among Malawi haps.
