The L239 Blue Panaque Pleco, scientifically known as Baryancistrus beggini, is a highly sought-after species in the aquarium trade for its stunning blue coloration and peaceful demeanor. Originating from the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela, this relatively small pleco makes an excellent addition to most freshwater aquariums, bringing a touch of elegance with its unique appearance.

  • Reaches an adult size of approximately 4-5 inches, making it a suitable choice for a variety of tank sizes
  • Primarily nocturnal, showing more activity during the evening and night
  • Known for its wood-eating habits, requiring driftwood in the tank for both dietary and environmental enrichment

Care Instructions:

  • Tank Size: Minimum 30 gallons, with plenty of hiding spots and driftwood to graze on
  • Water Parameters: pH 6.5-7.5, soft to moderately hard water
  • Temperature: 26-30°C (79-86°F)
  • Diet: Omnivorous but leans towards herbivorous; diet should include high-quality sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and wood for grazing
  • Compatibility: Peaceful with most tank mates; ideal for community tanks with similar-sized fish
