Description:

The Cheni Loach, also known as the Chinese Hillstream Loach or Butterfly Loach, is a peaceful and uniquely shaped bottom-dweller native to fast-flowing mountain streams in China. With its flattened body and wide pectoral fins, it resembles a miniature stingray and is perfectly adapted to high-oxygen environments. Its calm temperament and algae-grazing habits make it a favorite in well-oxygenated planted tanks with good water flow.

Care Instructions:

• Tank Size: Minimum 20 gallons with strong water flow and smooth river stones
• Water Parameters: pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard water
• Temperature: 20–24°C (68–75°F)
• Diet: Omnivorous; feed algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods like bloodworms or daphnia
• Compatibility: Excellent with other peaceful species; prefers to be kept in small groups
